I find myself doing two people's work because we have several staff on long-term sickness leave. We do not have the budget to employ temporary staff. I work long hours and I have not taken any annual leave for months. I know the quality of my work has deteriorated. I used to love my job but now I feel overworked and I keep getting these headaches.

Develop staff training and development policy. Develop and implement sickness monitoring and capability procedures. Introduce job evaluation, job enrichment/job rotation schemes. Carry out an organisational culture/health check. Develop staff incentive and performance review procedures.

Improved job satisfaction and staff training should result in reduced sickness absences.
