I have trained three people to do the same job over
nine months. We just do not seem to be able to keep staff
for any length of time. They complain of too much work, feeling
bored and not stretched enough. One woman said the way she
was treated was sexist and old fashioned because she was expected
to make tea and take minutes in meetings and her male colleagues
did not have to do these tasks.
Staff exit interviews, team coaching, appraisal schemes, team
meetings, induction programmes, personal develop plans, focus
groups, organisational development processes, work shadowing,
staff suggestion schemes and diversity training.
A more open organisational culture, with effective staff communication
and development processes should enable staff to feel valued
and motivated to contribute ideas.
