Jim came from an all male office to work in an office with men and women. In his previous office he had calendars, posters, locker pictures and computer screen savers of scantily clad women. He carried on doing the same things in his new office. He also enjoyed cracking rude, sexist and racist jokes. He used the office email system to access pornographic websites in his new job. Staff complained about Jim's unacceptable behaviour to his manager. The manager informed Jim his behaviour was against the staff code of conduct and he would be disciplined.
Review/develop comprehensive induction system. Develop/review staff code of practice, staff handbook and deliver diversity training.
Staff are informed right from the start about unacceptable behaviour and standards expected in the workplace. All staff have a full-personalised induction programme.
