My manager asks me to do work that is not in my job description. I do not have a problem with this because I am learning new skills. However, when it came to my annual performance review my boss based it on my old job description that bears no resemblance to what I currently do. My boss promised to update my job description and person specification that are out of date. However, I know he is reluctant to do this because I can then use it to apply for my post to be upgraded and this could provide me with a salary increase. I find this extremely frustrating.
Implement a review/updating of all staff job descriptions and job specifications. Set up exit interviews and focus groups. Review/develop performance review process.
Staff feel more motivated and encouraged to use their initiative and productivity should increase.
